Yamaki Ikai Y1548: Ishidou Kiln Tokoname White Kohiki Matcha Bowl 石堂粉引抹茶碗

Title Default Title
Qty:

This white matcha bowl is made with a technique called kohiki in which a base clay, is layered with white clay then a glaze as opposed to most cermaics which have glaze directly on the clay. This gives the piece its characteristic rustic warmth.

Meant to be aged - staining unique to your own use

The kohiki techniques also means that the glaze is not a perfect seal, and the bowl is made to be "aged". Liquid is allowed to seep into the base clay and it dries slowly creating stains. How you "age" this bowl will determine its nature and become personal to your own collection.
